THE LEFTOVER CLUB by Ginger Voight REVIEWED BY WTRBlog

NOW AVAILABLE

In 1986, Roni Lawless wasn't like most of her classmates. She was too smart, too awkward, and too different to fit into any specific clique. The only commonality she happened to share with her thinner,
more popular counterparts was that she, too, had a massive crush on Dylan Fenn, the most popular boy in school.
Even though their mothers were great friends and even shared a house, Roni was stuck squarely in the Friend Zone, unable to win Dylan's interest like many of the girls he dated and discarded throughout high school. Instead she had to find solace with the other outcasts, all brought together by their unrequited crush. Together they formed The Leftover Club, a very exclusive group of teens who couldn't turn Dylan's head even if they spontaneously combusted.
Over the next 20 years, each member gets their shot at seducing the man of their collective dreams. But who will ultimately win his heart in time for the 20th anniversary for the Class of '88?
Ginger Voight, author of the best selling "GROUPIE" and "FULLERTON FAMILY SAGA" series, weaves a new standalone romance about the angst of long-standing, unrequited love. This timey wimey tale is a heartfelt and nostalgic look back at what it was like to come of age in the 80s, fall in and out of love in the 90s and ultimately come into one's own in the 21st Century. It is a love story for all ages, especially anyone who ever pined over the one who got away.

The LEFTOVER CLUB
by Ginger Voight

5 out of 5 stars
Another spectacular read from Ms. Voight.
The LEFTOVER CLUB is on my best reads list of the year!  I love the flow of Ms. Voight writing and I was so in tune with the characters especially Roni.  I guess having this story reflect the characters early years that I also grow up in and thru adulthood helps with feeling like I was there.  Ms. Voight uses the back and forth of the time line well and it helps explain why the characters act and react the way they do.  Roni at a young age of six losses her close father to a sudden and unexpected death.  Not being able to understand how this could happen, has not been able to cope with the feeling of that missing piece in her life.  In order for her mom to make ends meet, she make the choice to move them in with a friend from work who is going thru a similar situation but hers being a divorce and a now a single mom.  Roni finds herself in that awkward stage in her life when it's not easy to fit in bringing forth and finding the LEFTOVER CLUB.   What makes things harder is that the boy, Dylan, who lives in the same house as her is the complete opposite.  He is mr. Popular and the hottest guy in school.  Little does Roni realize that he is just as in love with her as she is with him, but as the story goes they are each led to believe different.  All through out their lives we see the different stages of how each of their relationship take place, from marriage, verbal abuse, divorce, single parenting, the one night stand, and all its good and bad.  The LEFTOVERS as Roni sees it are the people that stand on the sidelines and the one who never get chosen, but how Dylan sees them is people being the 'chosen one' and the best for last will have you spooning and hoping that these two are able to find each other and live that happily ever after.  I highly recommend this page turner of a read to be placed high on your to be read next list.
